Round Rock West Flood Relief
As many of you are aware, the rains from Tropical Storm Hermine caused major flooding in the Round Rock West
area on September 8th. Many of the homeowners suffered damage that does not meet the 36" flood water criteria for
Red Cross aid. While some of those do have sufficient insurance and financial means to rebuild their homes and lives
after the flood, many that live in the flooded areas in the Round Rock West neighborhood are still not able to live in
their homes will have to pay for alternate housing for another three to six months. This is causing a huge financial
burden on most families as there is not any financial aid to this point. Even with flood insurance many people are having
to pay their mortgages and now rent in addition to replacing most of their belongings out of pocket. We have established a
means for anyone who wishes to make a tax-deductible donation to do so at this time. We have partnered with the Austin
Disaster Relief Network (ADRN), a 501 (c )3 non profit organization formed to help in instances like this.
The ADRN, who has already played a big role in organizing clean up volunteers for the big clean-up day on
September 11th, has offered to collect donations for the flood victims. They will allow donors to specifically designate where
they want their contribution to go and it is tax deductible. The donations made to the ADRN will be completely transparent
and the victims should start seeing donations within days of the donation.
