Christmas Decorating Contest 2024

Contest information:

1.       Participation is open to all residents within the boundaries of Greater Round Rock West Neighborhood – Round Rock West, Cimarron, Little Oaks, & Shadowbrook.

2.       Entry is FREE, no cost or fees apply but addresses are REQUIRED to register in order to participate in prizes.

3.       Greater RR West Board Members and Christmas Committee judges are not eligible to win except for Online Voting Categories (Popular Vote, Best Nativity & Kids Choice categories which are voted online by all Round Rock West residents and not by the judges.)  Last year’s winners of ANY Category are not eligible to win this year. 

4.       Entry applicants must be received no later than NOON on December 11th, 2024.  Entries are preferred to be submitted via the online link at 2024 Christmas Decorating Entry Form or email to admin@grrwna.org.

5.       Participant’s street address MUST BE CLEARLY VISIBLE FROM THE STREET and well-lit.

6.       The contest is for exterior decorations only, including windows visible from the exterior.  Judging will be done from outside the residence only except for garage displays where the garage door is fully open to viewers.

7.       Judging will be based on “curb appeal” as viewed from the street only.  Therefore, only those decorations on the street side of the property will be judged (corner lots will be judged from both streets).  Judges will not enter the property to view back or side yards.

8.       Participants agree to the following:

a.  To have their addresses posted on the GRRWNA Website (grrwna.org) and social media pages (https://www.facebook.com/groups/362168730525935);

b.  To have one or more photos and/or a video of their decorated residence exterior posted on the GRRWNA website (grrwna.org) and the neighborhood Facebook group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/362168730525935). Pictures and/or a video may also be published in other social media outlets, local media publications, or websites.

c.  No compensation for said posting or publication.

d.  To volunteer as a judge for next year’s (2025) Christmas decorating contest.

9.       If desired, any address nominated can opt out of the contest.  Nominators will be disclosed to the nominees.

10.   Judging criteria will include:

1. Unique Design and Creative use of lights and/or decorations.

2.  Storyline or theme

3. Display and placement of decorations

4. Overall presentation

11.   Judges will be viewing all registered entries from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on December 13th, 14th, & 15th.

12.   Participants should ensure all lights and decorations are in place and ready to be viewed for all three nights of the judging period.

13.   A minimum of 15 Volunteer Neighborhood Judges are required for the Neighborhood Christmas Decorating Contest to happen.  NOTE:  If not enough judges volunteer, then the event may be cancelled.

14.   The Christmas Decorating Contest includes the following categories:

a.  Judges

• •  FIRST PLACE

  •  Best Lights

  • Best Lighted Trees

  • Best Lawn Display

  • Best Inflatables

  • Best Newcomer (Entries must register & provide proof of move-in date into the Round Rock West Neighborhood in 2024.)

b.  GRRWNA Residents Online Voting

•  Popular Vote (online voting)

•   Best Nativity (one vote per email)

•   Kids Choice (online through our partnership with Deep Wood Elementary School)

15.   Prizes include a sign placed in your lawn by GRRWNA and several top winners will receive a local gift card (Note: not every category receives a gift card).

16.   Winners will be notified by phone call, email or in person prior to the Announcement of Winners no later than Thursday, December 19th, via our social media sites and the neighborhood email distribution list. (Winners agree not to post they have won before the neighborhood announcement.)
